King’s Health Partners
Discover Healthcare has been developed by King’s Health Partners. King’s Health Partners is a group of hospitals and a university which have come together in south east London. This partnership helps us to provide the latest treatments alongside the best possible care by working together, sharing knowledge and combining resources to improve healthcare, research and education.
King’s Health Partners is made up of:
Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust: one of the most successful foundation Trusts in the country, providing 2.4 million patient contacts per year. It provides healthcare to people living in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham as well as treating patients from further afield in specialities such as orthopaedics, kidney care and cancer.
King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: one of London’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals. It provides healthcare services to people living in Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Bromley. It also provides specialist services such a liver services and transplantation and neuroscience services to people living further afield and abroad.
South London and the Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust provides NHS care and treatment for people with mental health problems across a large geography in south London. It also specialises in treatment for people with drugs and alcohol problems. The philosophy of care is the recovery model, which aims to provide treatment that helps people get well and stay well, so they can achieve their full potential.
King’s College London University is the country’s 4th oldest university and is one of the top 25 universities in the world. It has 4 medical research council centres which enable it to produce world renowned research. One of the research streams is “Population health and implementation science” which addresses important public health issues in society through research in health and social care, environmental science, geography, nursing, global health and public policy.
Through collaborating and working in partnership, King’s Health Partners is able to use healthcare research to make direct improvements in patient care and to improve the health of our local populations. Thanks to our two world-leading biomedical research units, we deliver scientific innovation at every turn, from using the latest 3D printing techniques to perform groundbreaking heart surgery, to understanding the causes of Alzheimer’s disease. The work we are currently doing can be found on the King's Health Partners' website.
