Visit us at an event. Or invite us to come and talk at your school or college.Relevant to: All fields
We get involved in a range of events throughout London, raising awareness of the pioneering work we do throughout King’s Health Partners in improving both mental and physical healthcare. These events will also give you the chance to discover more about the kind of careers you can follow with us. In addition, through our Healthcare Science Ambassadors, we also visit schools and colleges in south east London to give talks. Why not invite us to your school or college?
A few examples of events we are involved in and where you can join us:
1. Events around the work we do improving mental health at SLaM.
3. 'Ask your pharmacist' week (usually around November) and how we are getting involved:
For the last 5 years, our students who are studying for their Master of Pharmacology (or MPharm) degree have undertaken an annual survey. It’s been part of the national ‘Ask Your Pharmacist’ (AYP) week. In 2015, one student undertook surveys with 1,500 patients at Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Hospital, Kings College Hospital, and community pharmacies all across Lambeth and Southwark.
The questionnaire aims to find out where patients get their information when they’re looking to diagnose their symptoms themselves, and also how they find out about the range of services community pharmacies can offer (over the five years, there’s been an ever-increasing trend for patients to go straight to the internet to access information).
The purpose of the questionnaire is to analyse patient trends, and encourage patients to use community pharmacies before going to their GP or A&E. This means patients can get help and treatment faster for minor ailments, and free up GPs’ and hospital A&E’s to deal with more serious cases faster, too.
