Here are 5 hints and tips to get involved at King's Health Partners.
1. Have confidence in yourself
Even a Nobel Prize winning researcher, or a Services Manager in charge of a multi-million pound budget has to start somewhere! If you've got a real interest in healthcare, and you’re happy to work hard, you’re sure to do well. We have every faith in you! So get involved.
2. Do your research
Find out as much as you can about the areas that interest you. The Science Museum and the Natural History Museum are great places to start. And the New Scientist website and magazine are great for finding out about new research breakthroughs.
3. Be persistent
Don’t be disheartened if you have any setbacks along the way – everybody does at some point. Also don’t be scared to contact people working in the area you’re interested in to ask questions. People are happy to help.
4. Get some experience
Work experience placements actually in a hospital or research lab are great (in fact, we offer several here at King’s Health Partners). But there are other ways to get relevant experience. For example, if you’re interested in Pharmacy, why not get a Saturday job on the counter at a big pharmacy? Or if you want to get an Admin role, get some customer service experience under your belt.
5. Be enthusiastic
It’s easy to be shy or nervous at work experience or interview. But try and ignore your nerves and just be yourself. Let your enthusiasm show through.
