Volunteering opportunities in our hospitals.

Relevant to: All fields

Volunteering is an excellent way of gaining exposure to the range of careers within the NHS, while giving something back to your local community.  There will be a minimum age before you can volunteer, and the expectation is that you will commit around three hours a week over the course of 6-12 months.

In return you will have the opportunity to work within a number of services and roles, develop new skills, and gain a better understanding of how a hospital runs.  If you are thinking of applying to a healthcare related degree subject, volunteering will also demonstrate your commitment and passion.

As a volunteer you are an important part of the hospital and contribute to providing a compassionate and caring experience for patients, carers and visitors.
