We celebrated the National Apprentice Week 2020 from 3 – 7 February 2020 with our 400 apprentices at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The theme for this year was ‘Look Beyond’ which shun the barriers and celebrated the diversity and value that apprenticeships bring to employers, apprentices and communities across England.

We had interactive sessions for both our hiring managers as well as apprentices.

Day 1 : A huge thank you to our training providers that have partnered with us in Governors’ Hall at St Thomas to help our apprentices to gain the right skills to progress in their careers. Some of the training providers we currently work closely with Pier Training, Willing & Able , Pearson Business School, Just IT, Babington, Lifetime Training, Capital City College Training , QA.com, Hawk Training .

Day 2 : We had two drop in sessions taking place in Sunshine House and Atrium 2 led by Wira, Maria, Harlene and Charlie.

As Wira says “These sessions were beneficial to apprentices as current apprentices can explain to the interested parties, what the apprenticeship journey is all about. Potential apprentices can get first-hand information about the various apprenticeship programmes available. Career advice was given on the suitability of what they could study to upskill  themselves within their current role or for future progression.”

Day 3: We celebrated our inspirational managers and apprentices by offering them a Emirates FA Stadium tour at Wembley Stadium.

Day 4: At GSTT we also provide Dental nursing diploma for those who are keen to get into Dentistry.

Day 5: Have you ever played Coffee Roulette? If not, ask our apprentices how it’s played. With over 400 apprentices across the Trust it can sometimes be difficult to see how everyone is getting on. A big shout out to Team Essentia for providing apprentices a platform to interact with other apprentices across the Trust.
